Officially a resident of NYC!

Today, I finally got to move in to my graduate dorm at Columbia University Medical Center! The past couple days spent playing tourist with my parents was really fun and exciting, but I am equally as excited to start my schooling (Hah... I say that now. Let's see what my posts sound like in a few weeks! :P)

The view from my room is AMAZINGLY beautiful. Luckily, I face Riverside Dr. where I get a spectacular shot of the George Washington Bridge on top of the Hudson River. I can also wave hello to folks living in New Jersey!

Moving in to a new place is really stressful, from scavenging on Free & For Sale on Facebook for cheap, gently used appliances and other goods, to lugging everything up to the new place. My mom literally wiped down every piece of furniture with sanitizing spray. She even got on her knees to wipe the tiled floors... bless her soul. I honestly don't know how I would have done everything without my parents. I know that there are plenty of people who have moved across the country on their own and moved in to a brand new place, and I am sure I am capable of doing it, too. But, at the same time, I love the fact that my parents are willing to take time from work and help me move. I think they love the idea of helping me out. I know there will be a time when I will need to start doing more things independently, and I will get there. I know myself and I know I can do things on my own if I really put my mind to it, but for now.. I am still totally a mommy/daddy's girl. <3

Have a great June 1st!

Sincerely,

Meagan
